Unofficial Air & Space Guide is an independent visitor guide to the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC and the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. It isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by the Smithsonian Institution.
The short version
No account. No ads. No tracking. We don’t collect personal information, and your saved objects and progress stay on your iPhone.
What stays on your iPhone
Your museum choice, saved objects, tour and scavenger-hunt progress, narration speed, and any museum you download for offline use are stored only on your device. They aren’t sent to us, and deleting the app deletes them.
Museum content and search
To show objects, exhibitions, tours, and images, the app requests museum content from our content service, which runs on Cloudflare. When you search, the words you type are sent so matching objects can be returned.
These requests don’t include your name, email, Apple Account, advertising identifier, or location. We don’t keep your searches or build profiles. As with any website, the network and our hosting provider handle your IP address to deliver responses and protect the service; we don’t use it to identify you.
Purchases
The one-time unlock is sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your name, payment details, or Apple Account information. The app confirms your purchase on your device with Apple’s StoreKit. See the Apple Privacy Policy for how Apple handles purchase information.
Apple features the app uses
Narration uses Apple’s text-to-speech on your iPhone. Directions open Apple Maps, which may ask for your location under Apple’s terms. The app itself never requests access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts, or photos. Links to official museum pages and Smithsonian records open in Safari.
No tracking, ads, or analytics
The app contains no advertising, no third-party analytics, and no tracking across other companies’ apps or websites. This website sets no cookies and loads nothing from other sites.
Children
The guide is made for visitors of all ages, including families. Because it doesn’t collect personal information from anyone, it doesn’t collect personal information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will appear here and in the app with a new effective date.
